Hello everyone! On the heels of our launch, we are incredibly pleased to put forth our first open call for submissions for the issue being published at the end of the Fall semester. The theme of this issue will largely focus on highlighting the resilience of artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how their diverse practices have adapted to these challenging circumstances.

It was a year that many did not expect to happen, yet it did. A global pandemic, social upheaval, and a world that seemingly is changing faster than we can keep up with. Yet despite these daunting challenges, creatives have risen to the challenge to confront these ugly truths in new and innovative ways.

Our inaugural issue is dedicated to the resilience of these visionaries and makers, who have continued to challenge established paradigms in the art world as their practices find new ways to address longstanding topics ranging from racial and environmental injustices, social change, as well as addressing our shared histories, both past and present.

We are looking for work that is diverse in nature, and celebrates these divergent art practices. If you have a passion for the arts, and a desire to write about art and culture, then you have come to the right place! We are seeking a wide range of written submissions ranging from but not limited to:

  • Artist features & Interviews
  • Essays
  • Exhibition/Gallery Reviews
  • Opinions & Editorials

Please forward all submissions either via Instagram DM (@delvemagazine_) or by email at delvemagazine@uoguelph.ca.

Submissions are open to all, though we will be prioritizing those from current University of Guelph students and alumni. At this time we discourage personal solicitations unless they are reflective in nature, as we want to focus on critical pieces as much as possible. For general art and literature submissions, please contact our sister publication, Kaleidoscope instead. This may change later in the submissions cycle depending on the content we receive. For more detailed submission criteria, please consult our Submissions page.

There is currently no fixed deadline to submit, though this may change if we choose to publish a physical copy of the issue.

We cannot wait to see what you all come up with! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to DM us on our Instagram page, or email us at delvemagazine@uoguelph.ca.
